How to find and rate a castle on our website or post a comment

Our site lets you share your thoughts about each castle in our database (and we have more than 900).

You can do this by rating the castle, leaving a comment, or sending a picture of a site you recently visited.

This will greatly help other people planning to visit the same historic building. Plus, it's fun too.

How can you find a castle on our site?

Although we have more than 900 castles and palaces in our database, finding a castle is easy, and there are more ways you can do that.

Here are 4 ways you can find a castle on our website:

• If you know the castle's name, follow the All castles link. In the Search box, type the first letters of the place, and the castle's name will quickly appear underneath so you can access it.

• You can search a castle by country and region. Selecting the country will list all castles from that country.

  You can further narrow the search by selecting a region from that country. This way, only the castles from that particular region are listed.

  If you are on mobile, first select the Search castle link from the hamburger menu ☰ in the top right corner.

• Go to the Interactive map link. A map with all the castles from our database will appear. Zoom in and find the castle you are looking for. Press it, then access the link near the text: webpage.

• Go to the Best castles link, then select a "Top" from a country of your choice. This way, you will be able to access castles that are featured in our Top Best Castles for a specific country.

How do you rate a castle?

Once you find your desired castle, access its page. In the top right corner, you will see its current rating (from 0 to 5 stars).

Pressing the stars (on mobile) or hovering over them (on desktop) will give you more details on the rating.

To rate the castle, scroll down to the Rate this castle section.

You have 5 rating options, and this is how it will be calculated:

• If you rate the castle Average - it will receive 1 point
• If you rate the castle Nice - it will receive 2 points
• If you rate the castle Beautiful - it will receive 3 points
• If you rate the castle Great - it will receive 4 points
• If you rate the castle Exquisite - it will receive 5 points

The total rating of a castle is determined by adding all the points together and dividing the results by the number of votes.

How do you submit a comment and send a picture?

Beneath the Rate this castle section, you will find all the current comments under Reviews and impressions.

To Leave a Comment, enter your name and your comment about the place and hit Post comment. Your personal opinion or view about a place you've visited is greatly appreciated and will undoubtedly help visitors.

If you have a nice photo of the place, send it to us. It will be featured in our Guest Gallery. Choose the file with the picture and your name (optional) and hit Submit.

Check our Top Castles

Now that you have rated your favorite (or non-favorite) castles, check out our Tops, which are updating live based on each place's current rating.

Go to the Best Castles link and select the Top of your choice. You can check the Top 20 most beautiful Castles in the World or the Best Castles in France, Austria, or any country you wish.

Alternatively, you can access the Top rated castles link to see the list of all our top-rated castles with at least 20 votes.

Please note that our Top 20 Most Beautiful Castles in the World has a minimum of 30 votes. Therefore, it is a little harder to get on that list.
