Miranda Castle is a 19th-century neo-Gothic castle, located in the Belgium region of the Ardennes. It was built in 1866 by the English architect Edward Milner under commission from the Liedekerke-De Beaufort family, who had left their previous home, Veves Castle, during the French Revolution.

Do not Disturb The castle was built in 1866 and the demolition work began in 2016. But because a bat colony is located in the building, the demolition could be stopped in court. Unfortunately, the proceedings were lifted a few months later and the demolition work was finally carried out in end 2017. (When I made this picture with the light stencil and only one year later the demolition work was stopped because of the bats was pure coincidence) This adventure is now 2 years back, but is still ubiquitous for me. When I got to see the first pictures of this property a few years ago, I was immediately enthusiastic and devoured all the information I could find. I really wanted to go there. It should take a few more months until everything fits. Then it was time, the weather was reported cloudless and the moon was high in the sky. There is always something special to come to a place I knew until now only from pictures, so like here. The atmosphere in this place was, as I had always imagined, very dense and somewhat ghostly. But I was a bit shocked by the amount of garbage the visitors had left on the whole property, a problem that I often encounter when traveling in nature. Photographed in a single exposure with the Samyang 10mm f2.8, a light stencil with bat and flashlight.
Château de Noisy ... demolition has begun Celles - Namur - Ardennes - Belgium Château de Noisy, also known as Château Miranda is a 19th-century neo-Gothic castle in Celles, province of Namur, Belgium, in the region of the Ardennes. The Château was built in 1866 by the English architect Edward Milner under commission from the Liedekerke-De Beaufort family, who had left their previous home, Vêves Castle, during the French Revolution. However, Milner died before the Château was finished. Construction was completed in 1907 after the clock tower was erected. Their descendants remained in occupation until World War II. A portion of the Battle of the Bulge took place on the property, and it was during that time, the Château was occupied by German forces. In 1950, Château Miranda was renamed "Château de Noisy" when it was taken over by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB) as an orphanage and also a holiday camp for sickly children. It lasted as a children's camp until the late 1970s. The Château has stood empty and completely abandoned since 1991 because the costs to maintain it were too great, and a search for investors in the property failed. Although the municipality of Celles has offered to take it over, the family has refused, and the enormous building is now in a derelict state, succumbing to decay and vandalism. Parts of the structure were heavily damaged in a fire and many areas of the ceiling are collapsing. Despite this, it has become a favorite venue of urban explorers. As of June 2016, the Château has been acquired and is now off-limits listed as 'private property'. Demolition of the castle began in late October 2016 with the conical gothic roof peaks being removed.
