Built on a dolerite outcrop, the location was previously home to a fort of the native Britons. The Normans built a new castle on the site, which forms the core of the present one.
Shrouded Bamburgh Despite the photos I have already shown of this trip, the day started out as an overcast, misty, and gloomy one. This shot was from the very start of this trip, at a viewpoint of Bamburgh Castle, but almost entirely enshrouded in mist.

Sweeep Description: If you need one, it's Bamburgh at sunrise
Bamburgh Castle Northumberland (UK).
Bamburgh Castle Finally got access to my pc after some house renovations rendered the office inaccessible. The classic Bamburgh Castle shot from a misty mornings sunrise. No amazing light to speak of but good to be up with the waves.
Moon at Bamburgh Sunrise in September arrives at a pretty civilised hour. I quietly left the cottage, Bertie blissfully dreaming of chasing squirrels and Martha of rolling in something unpleasant, (Bertie and Martha are dogs by the way) and made the short journey to Bamburgh, arriving just as the curtains were being opened a smidge. I was hoping that the Big Guy upstairs would be refreshing the palette with a beautiful array of vibrant colours to welcome the start of the new day, but maybe today was a lie-in, because all I got was black and white. No apologies for linking this again, it's simply sublime! youtu.be/Wkof3nPK--Y
Eventide Hoping for some colour over Bamburgh which never materialised to any extent, but who cares? So lovely to spend time by the sea at the end of the day.......or any part of the day.

Bamburgh Fields At Sunset This is a shot from the end of a day in Bamburgh. This was spectacular after a day which had been a wash of mist and low cloud. More of the day to come, but here is the classic view of Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands.
