Was versteckt sich in alten Burgen?
Jump or starve Aggstein castle in Lower Austria is situated 300 metres above the right bank of the river Danube and was built at the beginning of the 12th century. When Georg Scheck vom Wald became lord of the castle in 1429 he was said to put his prisoners on the rock spur to the right of the chapel. He then bricked the window up and the captives could either jump (300 meters) or starve to death. His cruelty didn't do him any good though as he finally went mad. It is said that two prisoners survived by jumping into a nearby treetop. So do you still like the picture?
