Heidelberg Castle
★★★★☆
Heidelberg Castle is a ruin in Germany and landmark of Heidelberg. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps.
The castle has only been partially rebuilt since its demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is located 80 metres (260 ft) up the northern part of the Konigstuhl hillside, and thereby dominates the view of the old downtown.
The city of Heidelberg has, at the beginning of the 21st century, more than three million visitors a year. The most important attraction, according to surveys by the Geographical Institute of the University of Heidelberg, is the castle with its observation terraces.

I was in the U.S. Army stationed in Heidelburg in 1985-88. The castle is stunning, especially during the "Burning of the Castle." I truly love the city of Heidelburg.
