Buonconsiglio Castle

The Buonconsiglio Castle is one of the best known buildings of Trento and one of the greatest monuments of the Trentino-Alto Adige. The castle was built for defensive purposes on a rocky hill, originally the site of a castrum Roman.
The Buonconsiglio Castle is one of the largest fortified complexes of the Alps. The castle is composed of a series of buildings of different eras, enclosed by a circle of walls in a slightly elevated position above the town.
The different rooms of the castle host art collections, divided sections: archeology, ancient art, medieval, modern and contemporary.
